WEEK 2

Saturday passes uneventfully save a little rain. It's on Sunday that you get a little notification of probation for new areas: Neo-Nipponbashi and Chuo. It'd be possible to investigate, to check out some anime, or to worship the defunct Shinkansen. But maybe it's hard to get excited about any of that when Friday’s events suggest that you have simply been provided some additional photogenic places to commit murder. Are you going to bother either overseer after their participation in some mockery of justice? Troll the internet? Get a bat out of Hyper Zone and just take out your frustration on everything?

Those of you who entered the pods will experience fewer “painful bursts of color” as your body is unaffected below the knees, though the same amount of “slight teleportation” glitches. Those of you who abstained from the pods will continue to experience all of the above as well as electric shock sensations occasionally when touching metal objects.

INTERNET | SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

((Internet investigations of any kind go here, and for all IRL areas, please use "investigate" in the subject line of your top-level comment, or link the thread to a moderator!))

I don't know... I guess I can't help but wonder if it had something to with her crimes. It doesn't make much sense to kill to undo a murder, but sometimes, it's easy to feel like you don't have any place to go but down.

I'd say it makes plenty of sense, myself. What reason did she have to care about the people here, compared to the weight of her attachments at home?

I guess when you put it that way, it makes sense... Still, at the same time, I wouldn't be able to keep myself from thinking about all the people I'd disappoint that way. Even if they wouldn't know about what happened, I would.

And yet the situation would be entirely within your control - even if it torments you, the consequence is in your head and your external life is unaffected.

You make it sound easy. If you hold something in for too long, you'll burst, you know.

[...]

We can't really know with Debbie. Her title was liar, I can't say how much of the version of her we saw was even real.

Children committing crimes still tend to operate under childish logic. She likely thought that if she could get away with this murder and erase any mistakes made with the previous ones, she'd never have to deal with any consequences for her actions. In the end, she was probably nothing more than a stupid little girl who thought this was the same as sweeping the shards of a broken plate beneath a rug and pretending it never happened.

[ ...Mn. ]

You're probably right. It's just hard to think about how we'll never know for sure.
