Saturday passes uneventfully save a little rain. It's on Sunday that you get a little notification of probation for new areas: Neo-Nipponbashi and Chuo. It'd be possible to investigate, to check out some anime, or to worship the defunct Shinkansen. But maybe it's hard to get excited about any of that when Friday’s events suggest that you have simply been provided some additional photogenic places to commit murder. Are you going to bother either overseer after their participation in some mockery of justice? Troll the internet? Get a bat out of Hyper Zone and just take out your frustration on everything?

Those of you who entered the pods will experience fewer “painful bursts of color” as your body is unaffected below the knees, though the same amount of “slight teleportation” glitches. Those of you who abstained from the pods will continue to experience all of the above as well as electric shock sensations occasionally when touching metal objects.

Huh? [ She goes still, and her head tilts. ] I guess you wouldn't see things the same way as a human, but... Why do you say I'm not a vampire?

Be...cause you're a human.

...You are a human, right? You're not a monster, you're not made of magic.

Oh! I guess I might look that way, but from what I understand, lots of Dead Apostles look just like humans do. [ She won't say whether or not she's a monster. That probably isn't for her to judge. ] So... Nope! I got bitten by a senior vampire and everything.

[ She clasps her hands behind her back, squaring her shoulders and puffing out her chest. ]

No matter how you slice it, I'm not a human anymore. I'd offer to prove it, but... I'm not really sure how I could do that without doing something scary.

[* This... actually shouldn't be possible! Yet here she is.]

Interesting~. No monster has ever had the ability to infect others. Is it some sort of virus? Or was there some medical experimentation involved? Because as far as little old me knows, humans don't turn into monsters, nor vice versa.

Can you tell me more about these Dead Apostles? Because it sounds like an edgy black metal band.

Well... There's still a lot I don't know. I'm just a novice, as far as being a vampire goes. The way it was explained to me, though, is that "vampire" just means any kind of blood-sucking monster. A Dead Apostle is a vampire who started out as a human and got transformed somehow... Um, like squares and rectangles!

I guess you could think of it as something like a virus. When a Dead Apostle sucks the blood of their victim, it's possible for them to pass a little of their own back. If they do, the blood will revive that person as an undead monster. There are some Dead Apostles who used magic to become the way they are, too, but I don't really understand that as well...

So... Vampires bite humans to drink their blood, and sometimes, the vampire virus infects the human. Then the human turns into magic?

How long have you been a monster then? The pirate told me he'd been a skeleton for ten years.

Oh! Yes, I talked to him as well! [ She says this with a certain amount of cheer; even if Ragetti isn't undead anymore, it had been somehow relieving to know that at least one person here would probably understand her position. ] It's not that the human turns into magic or anything like that, though... The ones that are magic were already magic to begin with.

[ She folds her hands behind her back and bounces on her heels. ]

It's just been a bit over a year, for me. It was scary at first, but I'm pretty used to it now!

...Golly. You humans are so weird. It sounds like you've got so many hybrids on the surface.

...I'm sort of a hybrid, too. An amalgamate, if you will. I was once a monster, but I was revived as a flower.

[depleting]

[ Satsuki hums, her head bobbing in another cheerful nod. ]

To be honest, I didn't know about any of this until I became a vampire myself. There might be all sorts of things I still haven't heard of, just lurking out there!

[ She tilts her head, then, looking down at Flowey with some curiosity. ]

Huh... Really? I'm surprised—I thought you were just a living plant. [ That's probably what "Vessel" means, then, she assumes. ] I guess that means we're pretty similar, then!

Actually, I really am more plant than monster at this point. But, same as you, it was really difficult for me to be a plant at first. And then I discovered how to use DETERMINATION... the power to SAVE and LOAD.
