WEEK 2

Saturday passes uneventfully save a little rain. It's on Sunday that you get a little notification of probation for new areas: Neo-Nipponbashi and Chuo. It'd be possible to investigate, to check out some anime, or to worship the defunct Shinkansen. But maybe it's hard to get excited about any of that when Friday’s events suggest that you have simply been provided some additional photogenic places to commit murder. Are you going to bother either overseer after their participation in some mockery of justice? Troll the internet? Get a bat out of Hyper Zone and just take out your frustration on everything?

Those of you who entered the pods will experience fewer “painful bursts of color” as your body is unaffected below the knees, though the same amount of “slight teleportation” glitches. Those of you who abstained from the pods will continue to experience all of the above as well as electric shock sensations occasionally when touching metal objects.

INTERNET | SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

((Internet investigations of any kind go here, and for all IRL areas, please use "investigate" in the subject line of your top-level comment, or link the thread to a moderator!))

[ Oh, hey. He straightens back up, glancing over at Damien. ]

I was looking to see if there was any produce in any of the food they have. Doesn't look like it.

[ Not even one of those single cherry tomatoes that acts as a weird garnish... this is a crime against humanity and will not stand!!!! ]

It's disgusting how far the environment has fallen if they've stopped selling organic vegetables. [Grumbles in vegetarian former eco-terrorist.]

It makes keeping a vegetarian diet very hard too. What a putrid city.

[ His grumbling gets a laugh out of Julius. ] I'm surprised they haven't looked to alternative solutions, unless this is a recent development. My own world has been in a similar predicament for some time, though there've been attempts to try and stabilize the food supply.

[ the most recent attempt was... h-haha.......... hm ]

I wonder if it gets circulated on that black market at all. It seems like it'd be the right avenue for it, given how valuable any vegetation probably is at this point.

[He frowns, darkly, like something in what Julius said got him thinking about something more serious.]

Tt. It is weird that they only seem to be selling contraband tied to murder, isn't it? With how little fruit and vegetation there seems to be in this city, you'd think they'd be a much more efficient product to peddle.

Well, there's that deluxe suite at the hotel. I wonder if it's to curb any participation from anyone who isn't an X-Class Akudama. I'd imagine there'd be a great amount of interest in picking some fresh food up, if it's as scarce as the selection here seems to imply.

Or it might even be that they just can't access a stable supply. That'd be depressing.

Still... you'd think if they were going to hand away items from our universe, they'd be able to pick up some broccoli as well. [He picks up some canned peaches and looks at the other side of it, hoping against hope that they didn't find some way to put meat in this.]

The thing is, I know for a fact they do business with a bunch of other clients because I've heard them making deals in there. I assume it's mainly just Akumada but... it's strange.

That's probably more likely, honestly. It's hard to tell whether this city exactly has the infrastructure for it.

[ He hums at the mention of the other clients. ]

Were you able to tell what they were making deals for?

Weapons and drugs, mostly. Or at least that's the impression I get.

Standard things for that sort of environment, then. There's probably not much we can do about it, unless it starts affecting us directly, I suppose.
