CATCH ME IF YOU CAN [2nd Investigation]

When you venture outside, there is a single theme in the whispers of any person on the street.

“Shinkansen-sama, I’m so sorry... “ “Forgive us, Shinkansen-sama…” “Can’t believe they defiled Kansai Station…” “Damn you, X-Class Akudama!”

The sky is cloudless above the smog. Does this really have anything to do with you? Did everyone else wake up in the residences this morning? Or will you take the bus route up to Chuo just in case?

[Hm! Yes!

First! By the shrine gates there seems to be a noticeable dent on one of the left wooden pillar. That's certainly noticeable given how nicely maintained a holy place such as this station tends to be]

[ Oh, very cool. Does there happen to be any blood or hair stuck to that dent? ]

[No, just some blunt force. Takes a bit of angling to get a good look six feet up off the ground, but this was enough to chip the paint.

You know where you can find blood or hair, though? A trail leading out of the Shinkansen Station! It is definitely faint, there was a finite amount of substance that could spread, but it is distinct enough for a hunter.]

[ That's fine, she can just climb the posts like a monkey...

But alright, if there doesn't appear to be any more physical evidence there, she'll hop down and pursue the blood trail she presumably spotted from her vantage point instead. Before she tries to follow it, is it a dripping trail, like someone bleeding (or at least covered in blood) had left it? Or is it more of a smear, as though someone had been dragged? ]

[Definitely the dripping type of blood trail! Delicious! Well, delicious like little candy drops. The fur is more noticeable to anyone else - there are bits that don't even have any blood at all.]

[ Good thing Satsuki is too well-mannered to eat off the floor, huh. But that makes it harder to say whether the person bleeding was coming or going...

As for the fur, does it look like it was shed evenly and consistently? Or is it more like a piece here, a clump there? ]

[Definitely not shed consistently. It's way too scattered]

[ Good to know! With that all established, if Satsuki follows this trail away from the gates, where does it seem to lead? Does it stop anywhere? ]

[The trail is very patchy, so even if it appears to stop, there may still be more further out. It also goes inside the station - would she like to take a quick peek at the area further away from the body?]

[ "Like" might be putting it a bit strongly, but she'll definitely do so. ]

[Just inside the station, there is something pretty obvious....

A lamp post has seemingly torn out of its original place and is lying on the ground haphazardly to the left of an elevator.]

[ Oh.

Well, as usual, she'll just check that for blood, hair, and dents, too... ]

[It's the exact same lamp post Flowey found. But there's a nice big hole where it originally was. Just worth noting - at least now you know where the lamp post came from.

Also of note - the offering boxes for Shinkansen-sama are lined up along the tracks. This is where they normally are, to make it easy for the hard light conveyors to pick them up. But considering the boxes aren't completely overflowing with offerings, but still have a few, this crime happened sometime after yesterday's box was picked up, but with enough time for some night-dwelling fanatics to still leave some gifts.]

[ Noted! With another look around, there anything else to note here? ]

[She could look at the offerings themselves if she wants, or just go back to following that patchy blood trail.]

[ You know what, she will take a peek at the offerings! At least to make sure no incriminating evidence has been stashed inside. ]

[There's silk flowers, a bit of cash money, and a somewhat frayed plushie!]

[ She's going to do a quick sniff to make sure none of these objects smell bloody (or otherwise suspiciously like they've been part of a crime scene); assuming not, though, she'll make an attempt to see where the other end of the blood trail lies. ]

[On the sniff check, Satsuki will likely find it too difficult to tell if they smell particularly bloody on their own or like they've been part of a separate crime scene - after all, they've already been spending time in the same room with the corpse here.

Though, when she picks up the frayed plushie, she will notice that it's a chicken plushie.... There's feathers clinging to it in random spots. It makes it look a little bald. Funny.]

[ ANYWAYS, YES, SHE WANTS TO TAKE THE STUFFED ANIMAL FOR NOW... She'll pick off one feather to check it out, and then probably take the whole thing with her (sorry, Shinkansen-sama) ]

Anyway, where does she wind up if she tries to follow that blood speckle trail as far as she can? ]

[It's from the Station to Hyper Zone... and every so often, scattered few and far between, a black feather can be found along the trail. There's only about 5 feathers in total.]

[ She'll gather them all up on her way!

Is there anything for her to note outside the Hyper Zone, or has all that been covered down-thread? ]
