Is there such a thing as a quiet day in Kansai? Ever since the resounding crash of the radio tower above the police station, not really. Often a freed criminal or two is heard hollering around some corner. Maybe it's quiet in the sense that humbler citizens are outright wary of the X-Class Akudama. At the research hospital, at least, there's very little commotion. Do you want to just stay in bed? Were you up all night? Or is it the perfect time to awaken and get some bread?

[ Does that mean that it looks like the burning accompanied that slash, like if the blade was heated or something, or just like one of the slashes that happens to be on a spot that was burned?

If it's the latter, does the burn look more from getting blasted with a fireball (thankfully Fireball is a Tales arte so he probably knows exactly what that looks like!), from less intentional contact with flames, or, again, from something like a heated object coming into contact with the skin?

Is there any notable damage to any specific organs besides the lungs? ]

[A fireball specifically does not seem too plausible, as there's no single huge impact area for the burn. In that scenario, you'd practically be expecting a tiny powerful fire blast for the severely burnt area, and a second more general source for the other burns. ...maybe that did happen. Heated blade seems plausible, but so does spell/tool fire and blade at the same time. There's definitely not some other kind of heated object pattern like a hot iron.

The more that you look at this, the more you are struck by the disconcerting sense that these wounds are too small. Why aren't the lower organs just crushed underneath his ribs? If there was a weapon with the reach to stab all the way into his lung, then why aren't the other slashes even deeper, maybe even with a disemboweling effect? His heart was not pierced at all to bleed out, either. Some of these are even just long blunt strike bruises.

Anyway, checking out the lung and looking up to the blood coming from the corner of his mouth, Rideaux will quickly deduce, due to the lack of deliberate placement or other sources, that it was coughed up.

As you walk away, you see that one of the chunks on his back is snapped off. Just one? After all the other injuries in the fight? Did Kimimaro dance away or what?]
