Probably because they're being brainwashed-- Populist confirmed that much to me. That's the whole point of that "Bunny and Shark" program.

She also said that the effects seemed to be tuned to be much stronger when it comes to anything about the X-Class Akudama, but beyond that, she didn't seem to know much.

If Kanto is the one behind all of this, then the people's worship of it would make sense.

I'm curious as to exactly what its true state is.

That's why I think we should take this chance to go to the factory. Technocrat referred to us as dolls that Kanto gave us to play with and said that there was a huge amount of data used by that factory when we first arrived. If it's true that Kanto is behind all of this, then there's a good chance we'll find at least some of the answers there.
