FINAL WEEK
Starting Saturday, the layer of clouds in the sky is more solid than ever. Overcast, reflecting the neon light of the city. By Sunday, you'll see more colors than ever, as several new areas are added to the span of your probation. And some areas aren't, but might see an approach anyway. Do the pods containing six weeks of treatment daunt you in the slightest now that judgment awaits at the end of the fourth week? Though faithful treatment participants only experience flashes on the upper third of their bodies now, their counterparts will experience occasional waves of isolating existential coldness. Does your physically present overseer have anything to say for herself? Just remember one thing: Kanto is watching and waiting.

Post-meeting investigation
[Gai isn't exactly here to enjoy the sights; it's rather that he thinks he might be able to learn something from them, so he can be found studying the exhibits intently, trying to see what sort of information he can tease out of them, sensationalistic and over-the-top though they are.
... the look on his face probably gives his opinion on all of this away, though.]
Tezukayama Private Elementary School (INVESTIGATION)
[So, his intel has revealed to him that Populist frequently gives lectures here, and not only that, but also that she'd raised a full scholarship so that a girl whose parents were killed in a massacre of the innocent could attend the school.
He's got a distinct interest in both things, but for now, he's dressed as 'Mason' once more, accompanied by a small robotic friend who, as it had claimed, could fit into very small spaces. It's easy enough to spin up a story about being someone's second cousin, and please can he come attend the lecture, it would just mean so much to him to be able to witness one for himself--
... and they're in. Slipping off into a secluded alcove, he starts looking around for a vent as he sets both the small drone and Funell down from beneath his coat and addresses the drone:]
Do you think you can make your way through the ducts here? If you can interface with Funell, he should be able to transmit the location of the lecture room to you.
Torture/Execution Tourist Trap
They're all disgusting. [Whether he's talking about the tourists or the people running the show, who can say.]
no subject
[Yeah, he gets exactly what Damian means... there isn't much in this place that isn't disgusting, honestly, but he's clinging to the hope that there are still at least a few good people left here.
He's counting on that much, after all.]
I'd say it's ironic that they're more disgusting than the actual criminals, but I think that much goes without saying.
no subject
[He hopes he can agree. That maybe there's something worth saving. He did at the beginning of this... game, anyway. Did he change? Or did he learn something about himself?]
...According to Kaguya, there's traces of mind control in the broadcasts. They're not entirely to blame, beyond the sociological implications.
no subject
Mind control? You mean some sort of actual psychological influence?
no subject
There's a reason so many of them are able to just swallow lies as if they're the objective truth. And it's not even the ignorant clinging to their ignorance as a safety blanket... They seem to have had their free will taken from them.
[He curls his lip in disgust.]
no subject
[They might, or they might not, but at this point? It's certainly worth a try.]
no subject
This practice... it represents everything I hate. [And he wants to know, if given the chance, that the people of this world will do the right thing. If humanity is worth saving. If his grandfather was wrong.]
no subject
[Yeah... he gets it. Honestly, when it comes down to it, there aren't all that many differences between his Japan and this one, and that's kind of a disturbing thing to realize.]
There will always be those who are selected out, but they still deserve that chance to fight for themselves.
no subject
It's disgusting. [He just glares at the building around him.] And the ones responsible need to pay the price.
no subject
From the sound of things, we're already well on our way there on the "paying the price" front. But I'm not going to be in such a hurry to burn everything down just yet. There may still be some pieces we can use to our advantage...
[Yes, that's slightly cryptic, and yes, that's the point.]
no subject
The Physicist, for one, is more aligned with us than one would expect. She's already given me information that's of use. I don't imagine she would like to be on our side, but she's swiftly learning that she has no other option after we thoroughly ruined her own plans.
And the people that we killed... well, survival instinct can be a good motivator for switching sides. The time will come when they all must make a choice.
no subject
I have my own lead that I plan on chasing down later. I don't know whether or not it'll pan out in terms of information, but I should be able to get something worthwhile out of it in one way or another.
no subject
I guess we can all do incredible things under duress, but I think you just have a real aptitude.
[ The drone lowers itself to Funell's level, trying to see if it can connect.]
Hi, Funell. Let's try to get along, all right? ... I'm not sure he can even understand me, but I think I can sync up with him.
no subject
Let's just say I've had plenty of practice. You can't do what I do without knowing how to pull off the chameleon act.
[He's already pulling a screwdriver out of his pocket to start loosening the grate on the nearest air vent as he says this. Meanwhile, Funell makes a sort of bow towards the little drone and does a couple of spins as if expressing his eagerness to get started-- it seems he understands that much, at least.]
Even if we can't livestream this, I need the video to be in a format that we'll be able to upload later. This is for everyone to see, so no matter what happens to me, don't stop recording.
no subject
It's hard when all you can do is watch. I think I'd feel better about you saying something like that if I could step in and watch your back somehow. That's what the lasers will have to be for.
[ Also come on. They're lasers. But the drone sounds as if it wishes there were other tools at its disposal.]
I'll make sure to get everything I can, but success is going to mean you getting back to release what we find, okay?
no subject
[In this case, quite literally, as he's made sure to keep that flute within easy access.]
But I appreciate the lasers either way.
[And that vent grate is off! He sets it to the side, peering in to make sure there aren't some sort of security cameras hidden in there because in this place? You never know.]

Gai will just be heading off towards the lecture room to slip in amongst the other people there to hear Populist talk, hopeful that the drone will be able to get at least some of the lecture itself on video as well...]

When an Akudama or Executioner chooses to hurt you, all that can be wiped away in an instant. It's not your fault. It's theirs. And we all care about protecting you, so we're watching them to make sure they're stopped before anything can happen...
[So it's about STEM, but also about "self-defense". Fun! Interrupt, or try to watch where she goes as she leaves?]
no subject
He'll loiter around until the lecture is over and then see where she goes...]
no subject
Populist walks through them, head held high to watch them float. A hand goes to her visor, and she mutters bitterly to herself (or to it?)]
I see, the use of 3D printing is the least these damn elites can do, eh?
[S-She sounds pretty different when she's not being teleprompted!!]
no subject
The irony is not lost on him in the slightest.
Giving a quick glance around to see if he can spot his little drone friend anywhere, he steps forward and calls out-- not in Leader's voice, but in 'Mason's,' higher-pitched and a bit more uncertain-sounding:]
Excuse me, ma'am...?
no subject
[Populist turns at the voice. She's not especially concerned about the slip in attitude, at least. And she doesn't recognize him, although he seems way too old for an elementary school student and too young for a teacher. Who is this guy?]
Can I help you?
[There's a 'Kiddo' on the tip of her tongue, she holds it back with great practice.]
no subject
I really am sorry for following you like this, but I just wanted to get the chance to thank you in person for what you've done to repeal that law so that we can protect ourselves. After everything that's happened lately, well, it's hard not to be worried...
[He can stall, draw this out for a bit until the drone figures out where they are...]
