WEEK 1

So, the first day is over. You are confined in various ways for the foreseeable future. There are two overseers you can bother, and pods they want you to get into, but many of you would rather do anything else. Honestly, even the flurry of posts on social media don’t seem particularly interested in talking up this prospect; when searches for the titles start to get results, they’re mostly about the posters’ own avoidance or occasional morbid fascination. There are even one or two newly taken pictures of the particularly outrageous and photogenic poses. At least photos are rare enough that you can be confident not every move is being watched. Conditions are much better than Saturday to wander all the way down to the Execution HQ Ruins, take the shuttle to the police station, or investigate other parts of the setting. As the weather forecast said, Sunday and Monday are smoggy and sunny.

How barbaric. An execution of a criminal is one thing, but such a spectacle...

[He was right, the train did seem like a god!! It seems closer to Morax or Murata than Barbados though, harsh and exacting of its people.]

I thought so too. They're all anticipating X-Classes to be executed next. That's what I thought I overheard.

Are they basing that on the crimes they think we've already committed, or ones they expect us to commit now that we're here?

That's a good question.. but I'm assuming it's ones we've already committed. I mean, look at us. Everyone here has done something wrong.

I assume this executed person was in a situation like ours in some way. He was referred to as Sniper.

Everyone prominent here seems to have a title. There was Rideaux's magazine article, for one. It had government officials titled Loyalist and Populist listed in it. It seems to be something that a person is well known for, instead of something only done to famous criminals.

Perhaps I can put it another way for you: politicians are often less than virtuous, but those people seemed to be considered closer to heroes than even the most basic of criminals. It wouldn't fit to only have those fit for execution have the titles.

I would assume execution is for those who commit crimes while here, instead of previously, but I'm not keen on testing out that theory.

From the way it looked, I think people are eager to see an execution regardless of when and where it took place.

I'm also wondering if our time is limited. The crowd really wants to see one of us executed from what it sounded like.

Hmm, an interesting thought. If they're that intent on seeing one of us be executed, we might have to worry about being framed for something.

[None of the people here are exactly virtuous if those billboards are to be believed, but presumably none would commit a blatant crime while in an unknown area, with the "locals" all watching intently for a slip up.]

Physicist said that a great number of people want all of us dead and executed.

I think we should assume we're all at risk.

I merely meant if we stay out of sight they may not lynch us for whatever that billboard claims we did. Adding another crime, committed here where they can see and verify, would just be fuel on the fire.

[Diluc knows how to stay under the radar, whether he admits to his list of crimes or not. It’ll be harder here without loyalty and renown but he can manage.]

No, I agree. Mostly. We're always going to be watched as long as we're here. Have you seen the way they talk about us online? We're celebrities to these people, both the criminal underworld and our tyrannical overlords.

It's just that half the people watching us want us dead already. [And the other half... Not great.]
